Rob and Haley Nelson — are a husband-and-wife team with a shared mission:
to help people reconnect with nature through meaningful, immersive experiences.
Together, we’ve spent the last two decades working at the crossroads of science, education, and immersive experiences. Now, they’re pouring that energy into the Indian Creek Nature Retreat, a 56-acre family-powered project near Lincolnton, North Carolina.
It’s not just a retreat — it’s a return to what matters. A place where the wild things grow, treehouses become classrooms, and the animals we take care of just might steal your heart.
🧠 Biologists with a Builder’s Mentality
Rob and Haley have deep roots in biology and ethnobotany. They see nature through a lens of awe and beauty. Also, they preach the importance of getting your hands dirty — they spent the last 15 years rebuilding their own home from the ground up, mastering everything from carpentry to tree-house feng shui.

You may have seen the Nelson’s in your kid’s classrooms (they’re the on-camera presence for hundreds of kids shows in textbooks) to TV Where they’ve hosted nearly 30 shows on National Geographic and Discovery. With decades of experience in finding the golden gem , they are now using that at Indian Creek’s to help do in the NC countryside, what they’ve learned from hundreds of exotic places worldwide.

Rob now hosts StoneAgeMan on youtube which reaches half a million subscribers and millions more that watch to help learn how to have a better, more fullfilled life in connection with nature. That’s why the farm is about bringing people along for the journey too. You can watch it on Instagram and Facebook. Every treehouse, every goat, every sunset at the creek — it’s all part of what we’re trying to we’ll share with the world.
Indian Creek Farm has history! It was built after the civil war, lived in an enjoyed by the Beam family, which still makes up the community in the area. In the 90’s it was purchased in love by John and fixed up with the help of a few faithful comrades into the majestic property we see today.
Whether it’s mending fences, planting gardens, or helping host guests, the community is part of the engine driving this vision forward.
